ABOUT
The Page's Webmaster
This is Simon Trober, the wonderful, wise Webmaster. On top of my slave-driving job as an System Analyst, I pretty much take care of this entire site: the design, the content, the updates, the family research--everything.
(Okay, my wife Dawn helps just a very little bit too.)
This site was last updated on 21 February 2002.
How They Met
After a short spell living in Gosport, Simon came back to live with his parents in Southgate. Dawn was one on Richard's, his brother, friends. They belonged to a small group who hung around together. On one occasion Richard suggested that Simon go with him to the cinema and then on to get a pizza with this group. He reluctantly went but did so as he had nothing better to do ... There in Pizza Hut, Dawn and Simon met. Then ... blah ... blah ... blah.
Dawn came down to London from Manchester to look for work. She lived in Barnet and was a secretary. She had many and various jobs all over London but when they met she worked for the charity Jewish Care. She joined the social group in order to meet her ideal partner!
About the Family Roots
The family Trober came over from Poland aound the turn of the century. Little is known about their origins and we can only go back a far as living memory. There is a family tree store by Simon and his eldest brother Martin. This family tree is stored on a package called 'Personal Roots' and can be obtained by contacting Simon. Martin has the family tree written on old fashioned paper where by he can add the hebrew language easily on to it. The Trobers lived in East London along with the other jewish immigrants but gradually moved north to Ilford and Southgate.
The Caplans can trace their ancestry back to Ireland and Blackpool and before that Russia. Dawn's mother, Cynthia was born in Dublin but came to live in Manchester after she met Neville, Dawn's father. Most of Dawn's side of the family live in Prestwich, N. Manchester.
Hobbies and Pastimes
Dawn is currently studing to become a Sunday School Teacher with the Sternberg Centre. She is a cheda teacher at the Edgware Masorti Synagogue. She is a housewife during the day and has an active social life outside her family life. Her ambition is to get a car of her own.
Simon is a work-a-holic. He can be found each night bent over the keyboard at work and has to be carried screaming from his office. He is a fervent Arsenal fan whereby he has been on the season ticket waiting list for 5 years. His ambition is to own a plasma T.V.
Joshua and Bethany are lovable and playful members of the Trober family. They are sweetness and light personified. When they grow up, Joshua wants to present Robot Wars and Bethany wants to be Barbie.
