Dawn and Simon were married at Manchester Jacksons Row Synagogue on 28 June 1992.

The two branches of this family, the Caplans and the Trobers, will be covered by the internet site. However only the immediate family details will be displayed as otherwise we could be here forever.

Our Family

Simon Ian Trober was born on 28 June 1964. He was born in Ramsgate while his parents were on holiday there. He was brought up in Manor House, North London. His parents Alec and Helen moved from Stamford Hill to a new block of flats in Green Lanes about 4 years after he was born. This block was owned by the Jewish Welfare Board and filled with 24 families (at least 3 children for each family). He went to Parkwood Primary School in Finsbury Park and then JFS in Camden Town. From school he went to Kingsway Princeton College in Kings Cross for his A Levels and then to Leicester Polytechnic (De Montford University). He got a BSc(Hons) in Combined Studies and has lived in Warwick and Gosport before moving back to London. After several years working at Dixons Stores Group, as a Systems Analyst, he started his own software consultancy company called Gazelle Wand Software Ltd. He has now rejoined Dixons as a Systems Support Anaylst. He married Dawn in 1992 and they have 2 children.

Dawn Ruth Caplan is a registered childminder, although currently only looking after our own children. She is a cheder teacher at Edgware Masorti Synagogue now in her fourth year and has just completed the Leo Baeck CJE Foundation Course in teaching and is hoping to do the Advanced Course in September. Dawn married Simon in 1992 and they have 2 children

They have been regular visitors to Regents Park Open Air Theatre for ten years and are now Friends of the Theatre they get lots of perks including an invitation to the cast party.

Dawn and Simon are both active members of Edgware Masorti Synagogue. They enjoy the simple things in life e.g. each other.

Joshua and Bethany both attend Broadfiled School in Edgware.

The Wider Family

Caplan

Dawn's parents are Cynthia (nee Caplan ... yes Caplan) and Neville Caplan. Cynthia is originally from Dublin while Neville is from Blackpool. They now live in Prestwich, Manchester. Dawn has an elder brother, Jeffery, and a sister, Sonya. Jeff is married to Rena and they have 3 children, Robyn, Ben and Calvin. They live in Hale. Sonya is married to Mick Curtis. They are from darkest Bury and live with a small menagerie of pets.

Trober

Helen (nee Portnoy) and the late Alec Trober have 3 children Martin, Richard and Simon. Helen now lives in Edgware. Rabbi Martin Taubman is a teacher at Hazmoneon School in Hendon. He has a daughter, Rachel, who lives in Israel, Rachel. Richard is married to Jacqueline and have 2 children, Amelia and Aaron and are from Harrow Weald, Middlesex.
